Shooting People and Other Stuff

Our Speaker this week will be the extremely talented Mike Martin, AFIAP, AWPF. Originally intended for last season, we are very fortunate to have been able to book Mike again to deliver his presentation “Shooting People and Other Stuff”

From Mike’s website;-
Photography is a love, passion, joy… obsession – long may it continue. I am a hobbyist photographer and keen club member; competitive and sometimes creative, but always hungry to learn or to help others.

I’ve been interested in photography for too long to say…I don’t really have the patience for landscape (doesn’t stop me trying though) but love urban photos, architecture, plants, beasts and bugs, trees, infrared, night, creative, manipulated images – basically anything.

Another Zoom session not to be missed.

Usual Zoom recurring meeting.

The membership fee for NEW MEMBERS the 2020/2021 season will be £40. This is a £5 reduction on the fee from last year to compensate for the fact that we are unable to have face to face meetings which we know everyone would probably prefer. Existing members re-joining will have an additional pro-rata discount due to the last season being finished early, the fee for existing members will be £30.

We can accept bank transfers or cheques to the treasurer. Please contact the chairman@trowbridecc.co.uk or give Kevin a ring on 07970 011772.

An invitation to potential new members

We know that many keen photographers are members of our Facebook group and enjoy the Trowbridge Camera Club Facebook pages but are not actually members of the club. If you like what you see now is the time to consider taking out a membership to allow full access to the up and coming 2020/21 season, be able to join in with competitions and photoshoots etc. During the season, the club meets every Thursday at 7:30 PM. Due to the current COVID-19 crisis the club evenings will be delivered via Zoom at least until December. We will return to weekly meetings in our Club hall in Trowbridge as soon as the situation allows.

The season will open on 3rd September with a welcome evening, open to all, existing members and potential new members. A Zoom link will be put on the Facebook page to allow access to all those wishing to take part. From the following week when the season starts with a schedule of speakers it will be paid up members only.

The membership fee for NEW MEMBERS the 2020/2021 season will be £40. This is a £5 reduction on the fee from last year to compensate for the fact that we are unable to have face to face meetings which we know everyone would probably prefer. Existing members rejoining will have an additional pro-rata discount due to the last season being finished early.

A programme has been prepared for the period September to December that has some very high quality speaker and technical workshops. We also hope to continue with club competitions which members are free to take part in if they wish. All competitions will continue to be judged by a qualified external judge. The rest of the season will be planned on a rolling basis as we see how the situation develops.

During the season we have already scheduled presentations on photography subjects as diverse as Chernobyl, Aviation, Travel, Corporate, Wildlife, Landscape, Art, Street, and Portrait. For those wishing to learn more about photography there are technical workshops on photography basics, Light Room and Still Life photography.

All speakers have been carefully chosen because they are well respected experts in their field and they can offer a unique approach to their subjects. We are confident this makes the Trowbridge Club a bit different and particularly appealing, good value to our members. If you wish to express an interest in joining our club please email our club Chairman Kevin Crosbie chairman@trowbridgecc.uk

A very important message to Members thinking of renewing.

This is a very difficult year for camera clubs. The Trowbridge Camera Club Committee has been meeting to discuss, monitor, and formulate a plan for the club for the coming season. We believe that the club will not be able to hold physical meetings in the hall until at least after Christmas.

We do, however, intend to start the season virtually on September 3rd, with a welcome evening and presentation of members lock down images, together with a prize giving for last years’ competition winners. This will be conducted over the internet, using a Zoom connection. All members and new members will be welcome to participate. Zoom invitations will be sent out in advance of the date and will be free to join in on. Subsequent meetings will be on Zoom and for members only.

We already have an exciting programme planned for the coming season up until Christmas and more items will be added as the season progresses. Of course the content of the programme will depend to some extent on the number of members that renew and new members we can attract this season.

The subscriptions have been revised downwards this year to reflect loss of the final sessions last year. This seasons subscription will be £30 which we believe is very good value for money for what we have planned. Payment in the normal way will be more difficult, but we will still be able to accept cheques and cash addressed to the treasurer and you can now make electronic payments using bank transfer.

It is important that we control costs and have sufficient funds available in order to attract the type of speakers we already have lined up.To reduce any risk to the club programme, the Committee needs an indication of the number of existing members who are committed to rejoining. We have received numerous replies following the earlier email communication, but if you have not done so please contact Kevin ASAP (chairman@trowbridgecc.uk) to let him know if your intention is to continue with club membership. This will help enormously with our planning for next season.

Thank You
