So, you think you might like to join us? Fantastic! It probably won’t surprise you to know that most people who are thinking of becoming a member ask similar questions. The answers to the more obvious ones are here but if you have any further questions please contact us or call our secretary Evelyn on 01225 702600.
Who can join?
Anyone over the age of 18 can come to our meetings. It doesn’t matter what type of camera you use or how long you’ve been taking photographs. We only ask that you have a love of photography and wish to join a friendly, growing community of people who enjoy taking pictures.
When & Where do we meet?
We normally meet on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, although there’s normally someone there from just after 7.00. The venue is:
St Thomas Church Hall
BA14 8PT (map)
However it has been decided that under the current restrictions it would be impossible to safely hold physical meetings of the club, so we will start the season online but we will continue to review the situation as the season progresses. Weekly meetings will take place on Thursdays at 7:30 using Zoom, and is free and open to all, details of the connection to the Zoom meeting are below.
For anyone unfamiliar with Zoom, you can download the application for your device for free – just go to https://zoom.us/ but you can also join the meeting through a normal web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge etc) without needing to download anything to your PC or device.
We will be operating a waiting room, and will admit everyone just before the meeting. The meeting details are:
Recurring Zoom meeting.
Topic: Trowbridge Camera Club
Time: Every week on Thu, until Dec 17, 2020, 19:30
Meeting ID: 984 0361 6170
What kind of welcome can you expect?
When you first come to meetings you won’t be made to feel like an outsider. You’ll have people come over and talk to you and make you feel welcome. Not because we’ve asked them to, but because they want to. We’re a friendly bunch and like to make guests feel welcome. You won’t be pressured into deciding if you’re going to join straight away and anyone who is thinking of becoming a member can visit us 3 times free of charge before they need to make their mind up.
As well as holding weekly meetings we occasionally organise trips out to local events or places of interest. There’s also the opportunity to arrange photographic trips with other members yourself if you wish.
Our new season starts each September and we’ve got a brilliant line up of speakers, tutorials, demonstrations & lots of amazing photographs. So why not take a look at what we’re getting up to this year (see programme)
What does it cost for yearly membership?
The cost of joining the club is set annually at the AGM. It is currently, and has been for some years, £45 per season. However the membership fee for NEW MEMBERS for the 2020/2021 season will be £40. This is a £5 reduction from the normal fee to compensate for the fact that we are unable to have face to face meetings, which we know everyone would probably prefer. Existing members re-joining will have an additional pro-rata discount due to the last season being finished early. The fee for existing members will be £30.
If you’re still not sure whether to join or not, why not drop our Chairman Kevin Crosbie an email (email@example.com) and ask to join our next Zoom meeting – we usually allow a couple of free meetings before committing to join.
